Matt is both an active composer and trumpeter on the UK scene. As a composer, Matt has directed his works at numerous concert halls and venues around the UK including Sage Gateshead, Southbank Centre, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Blackheath Halls and more.
As a trumpeter, Matt has performed on radio broadcasts for BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 1xtra, BBC Radio 3 and Jazz FM.
In the jazz world, Matt has performed alongside Norma Winstone, Kenny Wheeler, Sir John Dankworth, Mike Gibbs, Tim Garland, Alan Barnes, Abram Wilson, Soweto Kinch, Denys Baptiste, Mark Nightingale, Steve Waterman and many more. He has also performed as part of the ‘National Youth Jazz Orchestra’, the ‘Voice of the North Jazz Orchestra’ and the ‘Conservatoires UK Big Band’.
In the pop world Matt has performed and recorded with numerous groups, supporting artists such as Madness, The Streets, Roots Manuva and The Wailers. He played on the Mercury prize nominated album ‘Man Alive’ by Everything Everything and has also recorded with Submotion Orchestra, P Money and K Delight.
Matt is a member of the group ‘Gentleman’s Dub Club’, with whom Matt has performed at numerous festivals such as V Festival, Glastonbury, Bestival, Electric Picnic (Ireland), Outlook (Croatia), Latitude, Secret Garden Party and many more.
